Sci-fi film 'Mickey 17' tops box office, but profitability long way off
La película de ciencia ficción 'Mickey 17' lidera la taquilla, pero la rentabilidad está lejos
The science-fiction film Mickey 17, led by Robert Pattinson, opened at the top of the worldwide box office. Its global first-weekend receipts totaled $53.3 million. The movie’s reported production cost was $118 million, more than double its opening weekend take. Despite debuting as the box-office leader, the film’s production budget significantly exceeds its initial earnings, meaning profitability remains a long way off. The contrast between the $53.3 million earned in the first weekend and the $118 million cost highlights the gap the film must close before it becomes profitable, even if it continues to draw audiences in the coming weeks.
